Using portable medical equipment, the Mobileyes Foundation team of licensed Doctors of Optometry, Opticians and Optometric Technicians travel to charitable organizations throughout New York City where they set up a temporary, onsite clinic to evaluate patients' overall ocular health and vision needs, and check for a host of medical eye conditions and general health problems.
Presently, the Mobileyes Foundation works with:
THE BOYS' CLUB OF NEW YORK – Elbridge T. Gerry Jr. Clubhouse and Harriman Clubhouse
Boys' Club of New York is rooted in a tradition and history of community service, outreach and philanthropy to some of New York City's most socially and economically troubled neighborhoods.
Boys' Club strives to sustain an environment that nurtures individual talent, strengthens family and promotes strong citizenship while fostering a passion for learning. They encourage participants to seek the highest standards of scholarship, moral development and physical achievement.
For children ages five to 18, proper vision and healthy eyes are fundamentally important to their academic success. Studies have shown a direct correlation between clear vision and academic performance, with vision problems often contributing to behavioral problems and learning disabilities.
Medical eye examinations are also important for the detection and treatment of common childhood conditions such as Amblyopia (commonly referred to as “Lazy Eye”), eye allergies and other eye diseases.
THE DOE FUND'S READY, WILLING & ABLE PROGRAM
The Doe Fund's mission is to develop and implement cost-efficient, holistic programs that comprehensively meet the needs of a diverse homeless population.
The Doe Fund's Ready, Willing & Able program offers life-changing opportunities to homeless individuals, who often come from very difficult backgrounds most of us cannot imagine, through paid work, transitional housing and comprehensive support services. The beloved “men in blue” who clean more than 160 miles of New York City streets every day have become integral to the quality of life in our city.
For these men, proper vision and healthy eyes are not a luxury, but rather a critical component to their overall health and well being and can make or break their ability to lift themselves up, find meaningful employment and become a positive and productive member of society.
